Tree Lighting Secrets

So while reading one of my favorite photo blogs, I found out portions of the tree lighting are pre-recorded. If you watch it on TV there is a very tiny disclaimer mentioning this. Anyway, even though I hate crowds, I am obsessed with all things New York lately, so I ventured to see what exactly happens at the Rockefeller tree lighting. Unless you work in the area or can get there super early, I do not recommend it. Read on to the next photo for more info, but if you view this photo large and compare with last night's footage, you will notice they do not allow people to be in this area, it is strictly for the television equipment and talent which is silly because it effectively cuts the viewing area in half and keeps a prime area from being filled with people. Although, I understand that it does help the audio when you don't have a few thousand people screaming right next to you.
