Trial of Bus Beheader Vince Li Moved After Threats by Rhonda J Mangus

THE trial of suspected busbeheader, Vince Li, 40, accused of brutally decapitating 22-year old Tim McLean on a Manitoba-bound Greyhound bus in July in full view of horrified passengers, is to be moved to Winnipeg after threats on Vince Li's life, it has been revealed.

PORTAGE LA PRAIRIE, Man. — Vince Li, who is facing charges in the killing of Tim McLean on a Greyhound bus, just west of Portage la Prairie on July 30, will now be standing trial in Winnipeg court.

At Court of Queen's Bench in Portage on Friday, a motion was put forward by the Crown and defence attorneys to have Li's case moved to Winnipeg court because of security issues.

Justice John Scurfield accepted the Crown and defence's motion.

"Security is an issue," he said during the hearing. "That's a concern from the Crown and the RCMP. There is no security in Portage's court house."

He noted the Portage courtroom lacks metal detectors and security at the doors to provide increased safety for those attending.
