TRO bought US$70 million worth of weapons

Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO) that posed as an organization to get relief for Tamils have bought US$70 million worth of weapons. This has been revealed when its chief Lawrence Thilakar was arrested. The heads of the network that assisted Thilakar to procure arms were ‘Waterloo’ Suresh of the USA and Erik ‘Waterloo,’ a former General of Indonesian Marines. This has been confirmed by Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) of the USA.

As soon as Thilagar was arrested by Sri Lankan authorities Arjun Ediriweerasingham of TRO in London had asked assistance from Human Rights Watch to get him released.

With the arrest of Thilagar activities of Kumaran Pathmanadan alias KP would be revealed.

The Tamil Rehabilitation Organization maintained one of the greatest facades of modern history by showing the world that it was an organization bent on collecting funds for the so called 'oppressed' Tamils in Sri Lanka. In fact, this was the premier front organization of the LTTE, in it's fund raising campaign.

The TRO worked so smoothly that they had branches of the organization in 18 countries. In fact, in countries such as Norway, fund raising was done openly, with the approval of the Government of that country. Even Kofi Annan met with officials of the TRO and praised them for what they were doing for the Tamils who had lost their homes etc during the 2004 Tsunami. At that time,, little did he know what the TRO was up to.

With money pouring in, especially from the Tamil diaspora, the TRO in its confidence dropped its guard and were tied up to the LTTE terrorists on investigations by the USA.

On Nov. 15, the U.S. Department of the Treasury designated the Tamil Rehabilitation Organization, Inc. (TRO) as a supporter of the group Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) in Sri Lanka, charging that TRO was a fundraising front. TRO's offices in 18 countries, including one in Cumberland, MD, were also designated. The designations, authorized by Executive Order 13224, prohibit Americans from engaging in financial transactions with designated groups and freeze any assets the groups may have under U.S. jurisdiction.

"In the United States, TRO has raised funds on behalf of the LTTE through a network of individual representatives. According to sources within the organization, TRO is the preferred conduit of funds from the United States to the LTTE in Sri Lanka. TRO also has facilitated LTTE procurement operations in the United States. Those operations included the purchase of munitions, equipment, communication devices, and other technology for the LTTE." According to Treasury, because of the humanitarian fundraising after the 2004 tsunami, LTTE was able to use the aid from TRO to strengthen its military operations.

Although the United States of America banned the TRO, it did not deter the organization from collecting funds through various front organizations. 'A Front for the Front'. Even organizations such as Tamils for Obama and Tamils for Clinton, are suspected to be front organizations for the TRO.

With the capture of Thilakar and now Urumaran, plent yof information is coming out. This we will know in the very near future, once the wanted people and operatives are in the net.

The Tamil community in Toronto has long been known to provide material support to the terrorist Tigers organization, and so-called aid organizations and charities, such as Toronto’s “The Tamils Rehabilitation Organization” have been investigated by the RCMP and Revenue Canada for their ties to terrorism. Today the federal government moved against the World Tamil Movement of Ontario and World Tamil Movement of Quebec, accused of being a front for the activities of funding the LLTE.

You are not being reasonable. You speak ill of the GoSL, run down the SLA and have no good word for the Sinhalese. You want over-night miracles to happen undoing what was done over a quarter of a decade by a mad man. You shout the GoSL, the SLA and the Sinhalese created havoc for Sri Lankans in the North, all the while trying to hide (not behind a human shield) the fact that there was dastardly terrorism in the name of liberation, and that the terrorist outfit was responsible for all the sorrow.

Thank you for the post. We should know these things, really. Even Tamiya must know what his hard earnings were used for. And, I don't see why or how getting to know matters of this nature could fuel hatred, as the hated are no more!

I see Anti-Sri Lankans trying to initiate guilt-trips and put us all in emotional roller-coasters. But when anyone speaks of the 'noble work' of the terrorists, the pro-(late)terrorists get very angry.

Are you ever planning to focus on the sufferings of Tamil IDPs in Sri Lanka, or continue to fuel hatred and distance the Tamils from Sri Lanka?

There are many atrocities going on in the IDPs camps in Sri Lanka, and these kind of Sri Lankan state terrorism conduct is the main reason the Tamils started to support a rebel force within them.

Now the rebel force is destroyed, you are continuing to talk their stories while totally ignore the horrendous reality of the 300,000 Tamil IDPs in the prolonged detention centers.

With the UN already under fire for withholding and downplaying the number of civilian casualties in Sri Lanka, another ongoing controversy has opened up concerning the number of internally displaced persons detained in the IDP camps in northern Sri Lanka. Between the May 27 and May 30 reports of the UN's Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, over 13,000 IDPs simply disappeared from the camps.

I think there are enough people to post articles etc about the IDPs etc. I like to post about what the most ruthless terrorists in the world (now, no more) have done. People should know these things.

Ironically, most of the rough and exasperated comments I get on my posts are from people living abroad, or showing that they live abroad. For example, there is/was a guy who was very aggressive, reporting from Madras?, not knowing that the name Madras was changed to Chennai, a long time ago.

Getting back to the point - more information has come out about the LTTE finances and financiers. Cannot divulge information right now, but you will get to know everything in time. Arrests of those involved are being made in the South, right at this moment.

Today we have people on NP who comes out with false propaganda primarily uploaded by LTTE supporting web/media sites.

When this information/allegations are countered by someone, then the originators of the article on NP, think that there are only a couple of people who refute their claims. As such, they start coupling names of those who refute them, and this in turn makes them feel good. This is psychological.

I have seen certain people dropping the '300,000 refugees' story on almost every anti LTTE or pro-GoSL post. Must be the new theme handed down by the puppeteers.

Therefore, these people should not be taken too seriously. They have to do their job.

I am amazed at the stupidity of these LTTE stooges. The storyline here is one of 'funding terrorists'by a BANNED unit named TRO, and has nothing to do with IDPs.

Want to talk of IDPs? Pick the proper storyline.

One should be aware that even today Nazi War Criminals are being hunted down for their part in war torn Europe during World War II.

Here, it is appropriate that these criminals who run such terrorist funding organizations are hunted down and prosecuted, all for the good of humanity.

On the one hand, these buffoons who support terrorism scream their heads off, complaining that the international media and NGOs are not permitted entry to IDP areas. On the other, they site articles from unheard of sources, and claim that atrocities are occurring in the IDPs.

Come on, stop contradicting your own selves, you are letting down your side (the obsolescent LTTE).

It is good to note that at least somebody is tracking and hunting these Terrorists and Supporting Units on behalf of all Peace Loving People of the world (which by the way is the majority and constitutes of over 99% of the world populace.)
