Tropical Storm Bertha - New Orleans Hurricane Center July 6, 2 p.m. by René

Looks like Bertha is heading straight for the East Coast!

Bertha is moving slowly west-northwestward over the open waters of the tropical Atlantic.

As of Friday evening, the center of Tropical Storm Bertha was located near latitude 15.5 North, longitude 31.6 West-- about 500 miles west of the Cape Verde Islands.

Bertha is moving at around 18 mph. This general motion is expected to continue during the next couple of days.
