Looks like Bertha is heading straight for the East Coast!
Bertha is moving slowly west-northwestward over the open waters of the tropical Atlantic.As of Friday evening, the center of Tropical Storm Bertha was located near latitude 15.5 North, longitude 31.6 West-- about 500 miles west of the Cape Verde Islands.
Bertha is moving at around 18 mph. This general motion is expected to continue during the next couple of days.
UPDATE: Bertha now located
1185 MILES EAST OF THE NORTHERN LEEWARD
ISLANDS.Moving a little faster, but expected to slow. forecasts estimate formation of hurricane strength in the next 48 hours, and a turn to the Northwest.
but that may change.
I'd recommend all on the Southeast Coast keep a weather eye out.

LOL--nah. Hurricanes are long-term stress. Tornado season is well, tornado season. Either a storm goes really bad very quickly or not, but it's all over whiz-bang fast. But I do admit that living in Tornado Alley takes some getting used to at first.
