MIAMI: Forecasters say the strongest winds from Tropical Storm Kyle are expected to pass west of Bermuda, but the island is expected to get some heavy rains.
Kyle could gain hurricane strength Saturday if its top sustained winds reach at least 74 mph (119 kph). The storm is moving north in the open Atlantic and is forecast is to make landfall anywhere from Maine to Nova Scotia early Monday.
The National Hurricane Center says Kyle's top sustained winds are near 70 mph (113 kph).
A tropical storm warning is in effect for Bermuda. Wind gusts of tropical-storm force have been reported on the island, and Bermuda could get up to three inches (7.5 centimeters) of rain.
Kyle is the 11th named storm this season in the Atlantic.
