The Mary Hill Bypass was shut down early this morning, even prior to the start of the rush hour, as a semi-trailler owned by Gulf Islands Cartage flipped over approximately 200 yards west of Broadway Avenue.  The truck was travelling westbound, loaded with a railway shipping container.  The driver of the truck failed to negotiate a curve, striking the concrete barrier at the side of the highway and rolling over.  The police officer at the scene informed me that the driver suffered a broken ankle.. nothing else.  The highway will be closed for several hours as police conduct their investigation and then get a large crane in place to upright and remove the wreck.

tbphotos, I like this story. It's good stuff.

I got stuck in that this morning!

I don't understand how so many trucks roll over. Are they that tippy? I used to drive out to Surrey and one morning there were TWO rolled trucks on a stretch of the 91 within a span of about 3 km.

So are the Police looking for his Cellphone and his phone records?

I'd wager a $100.00 that he was talking on a cellphone instead of paying attention to his job:  Operating a several ton truck with "BOTH" hands and giving it all due attention.

I have lost count how many truck drivers are busy yapping on the phone with one hand while driving with the other.  Last time I operated one of these rigs, it still required two hands and your complete attention to keep from killing someone or yourself.

I stick to the sytrain, it gets crowded, but you get there fast and it good gas wise and much safer  "knock on wood"
