The Mary Hill Bypass was shut down early this morning, even prior to the start of the rush hour, as a semi-trailler owned by Gulf Islands Cartage flipped over approximately 200 yards west of Broadway Avenue. The truck was travelling westbound, loaded with a railway shipping container. The driver of the truck failed to negotiate a curve, striking the concrete barrier at the side of the highway and rolling over. The police officer at the scene informed me that the driver suffered a broken ankle.. nothing else. The highway will be closed for several hours as police conduct their investigation and then get a large crane in place to upright and remove the wreck.
