NP Rank:
The truth about Honduras and Tropical Socialism
Miami - The Miami Herald is by no means a conservative newspaper, but because of the ethnic makeup of South Florida it has a base of consumers who support the product that don't fit into conventional molds and labels. The sizable Honduran population of Miami is no exception.
While the United States officially cozied up with South American "Tropical Socialists" such as Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro and Daniel Ortega, Hondurans in Miami hit the streets in support of the ouster former Honduran President Zelaya.
Hondurans weren't the only Latinos from South Florida showing support for the ouster of Zelaya...
''I'm here in support of my Honduran brothers because they did what the Cubans should have done to Fidel Castro a long time ago,'' said Cuban exile Sergio Rios as he hoisted a Cuban flag over his shoulder. ``They made sure they broke any link to the chain of communism. Hopefully others will follow.''
Outside of Miami this tale of overwhelming support went largely unreported and certainly ignored. But why?
Although it is unclear why President Obama, who chose not to "meddle" in Iran, chose to meddle in Honduras by standing shoulder to shoulder with Chavez, Castro and Ortega among other South American socialists, one can connect the dots and assume that Obama ignored what every American President before could not and would not... the march of socialism in our hemisphere.
As recently as today the American press is reporting stretches of reality that borderline on downright falsehoods, but the fact remains that Hondurans, even Zelaya's own political party, do not want him back.
If you don't live in South Florida, you probably missed this story as it was off script with the Obama Administration, but I urge all of you to read this (see link below) and keep it mind as the press continues to distort the truth about one of the very few stories of South/Central American democracies that weathered change without bloodshed and in the end stayed a free and democratic nation.

For some reason the video assiciated with this story is not showing up on the page. It really is very important to see this to get a feel for the truth about US Honduran support of the ouster of socialist dictator Zelaya, so here's the link until I can get this resolved...

It is important that no countries constitution is broken so that a politican can continue for more terms of governance than is stated within the important founding document of democratic agreement.
This factor stops political dictatorship, in the case of Honduras a very worried administration took a rightful and legal path too ensure that their constitution was obeyed. The offending president was rightfully de-throned in a peaceful and bloodless fashion that should be commended by the world and not frowned at.
The government of Honduras should be reconized as a sensible democratic governing body and applauded for its actions. The military are not in charge the politicians are.. The oust leader should not be reconised he attempted to be a dictator and disregard the countries constitution as something that he could selfishly change.

Thanks Babel-Fish right on the money as usual! Things have been quite good here in Honduras and only now because Zelaya has returned is there chaos only Zelaya's supporters have wrecked businesses and burned cars and buses. The people DO NOT WANT HIM BACK!!! The 5% who support Zelaya have done 100% of the damage to this country!!!
