A TTC collector has been arrested for selling forged adult tickets, even as the transit commission moves to eliminate adult tickets altogether.
The employee, who worked at Wilson Station, now faces fraud-and theft-related charges. TTC staff will next week recommend to the commission that adult tickets be eliminated, a news release stated yesterday.
The TTC has seen an increase in counterfeit ticket use, costing the TTC--and taxpayers -- $300,000 to $400,000 a month in lost revenue.

TTC has a willfully outmoded ticket-purchasing system, too. The ticket machines only take coins for single tokens or two types of bills for multiple tokens (but not coins for mulitple tokens or bills for singles). Should you try to buy multiples at the ticket window, the TTC attendant will give you a $10 for your two $5s and send you over to a machine. The result is a disorganized user experience that makes the behavior above really easy to pull off.
