Piccadilly Line Arrives at Piccadilly Circus

It looks like next week is going to be a nightmare for commuters in London.

The underground network is going to be thrown into chaos by two transit worker strikes at the same time as the system is undergoing some maintenance work. The affected lines will be the Jubilee, Piccadilly and Northern.

Up to 1,000 London Underground workers are holding two 72-hour strikes in a row over pay and conditions.

The Rail Maritime and Transport (RMT) union said members working for maintenance firm Tube Lines would walk out on 20 August and on 3 September.

The RMT claimed the company's pay offer would leave staff worse off than those working in other parts of the network.

Tube Lines said its pay and conditions were "very competitive" and it was disappointed with the RMT's stance.
