Matt Golinski Suffers Massive Burns, Unable to Rescue Family
Matt Golinski, a regular on Australia's Ready Steady Cook, suffered serious burns to 40% of his body after a fire consumed his Sunshine Coast home at around 3:30am on December 25, 2011. His wife Rachael; and three daughters, Starlia, Sage, and Willow; were killed in the fire.
Matt Golinski's 12-year-old twin daughters Sage and Willow were born with developmental disabilities.
According to a neighbor, Golinski was trying to rescue his wife and kids, but was unable to do so because of his injuries.
After being woken by a terrible explosion, neighbours in Tewantin found Mr Golinski "burned from head to toe" screaming "my family, my family" outside his home.
One neighbor reported hearing loud bangs from the Jacaranda Place home, before comign outside to see the structure engulfed in flames.
Matt Golinski was airlifted to Royal Brisbane Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
