Twenty-seven countries taking part in anti-terrorism confab

Semarang, C Java (ANTARA News) - Representatives from 27 countries are discussing ways to fight terrorism and transnational crimes at the 6th ASEAN Regional Forum International Meeting on Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crimes to end on Friday.

The two-day meeting themed "Social Participation on Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime" was a follow up to the decision reached at the 14 ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) ministerial meeting held in Manila in August 2007, Primo Alui Joelianto, director general of Asia and Pacific Affairs at the Indonesian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.

The objective of the meeting was to identify newest motives and reasons behind terrorist acts and transnational crimes, he said.

The meeting co-chaired by Indonesia and India was attended by among others representatives from ARF member countries, the ASEAN Secretariat and non-governmental organizations.(*) END
