Co-creator of Twitter, Dom Sagolla, told in San Jose Costa Rica at the Summit of the Future, that the microblogging system  is today "a way to be formed and informed".

He also assured that for many the social network has served as a new media of communication, just  in case of natural disasters like the recent earthquakes in Chile and Haiti.

Dom Sagolla pointed out that many presidents and governments now reach the public using Twitter and  for example, "Venezuela has increased its number of active users since president Hugo Chávez joined the platform" (chavezcandanga)

Chavez opened his Twitter account  last  April and in June he broke all the récords with half million of followers. They are many the presidents, Sagolla indicated, that use Twitter, but the case of Venezuela is atypical."

In fact, the American leader Barack Obama uses this platform since 2008, but Sagolla said that he is not sure that the President himself uses his account. Many have said the same about Chavez, and he told the audiences he was supported by a working team that collect and

 Costa Rican president, Laura Chinchilla, is another Twitter good example from Presidential Offices.  During her political campaign and now also in the Government he uses Twitter to inform the citizens about her activities and opinions on topics of interest. 

During Haiti earthquake last January 12, Twitter was the road "to collect two million dollars in only 48 hours" to help to the affected peoples, Sagolla added, according to a EFE report from San Jose.
