11 MILLION Gun and Knife Crime Film 2009

Am scratching my head in total disbelief at this story. Why are children becoming so abusive and arrogant and unloved.

Two teenage boys were thought to be planning to blow up a school in Greater Manchester, England to coincide with the tenth anniversary of a massacre that took place in a school in Columbine, Colorado, US.

The statement was given to Manchester Crown Court on Wednesday as the trial was proceeding. Matthew Swift, 18, and Ross McKnight, 16, were both thought to be planning to blow up Audenshaw High School in Denton, Greater Manchester on April 20th this year — the tenth anniversary of a killing spree that took place in a high school in Columbine, in the US state of Colorado. It is also thought that the two students could have planned to blow up Crown Point North shopping complex in Manchester as well.

Matthew and Ross both lived in the same street and were arrested in March of this year. Believed to be another one of their influences was the Oklahoma City bombings of 1995, for which Timothy McVeigh was convicted. That bombing killed 168 people and injured 450 people at a federal complex.

A 16-year-old girl in the court has claimed that in the early hours of March 14, 2009, Ross called her while he was intoxicated with alcohol and said that he and "Swifty" had been inspired by what had happened in America and that this would be "a busy season for things like that". When the girl asked why she claimed that he said: "I just wanted to do it. I hate them all."

The trial is currently still continuing in the Manchester Crown Court.

This generation of young people, are being destroyed one way or another by drugs and alcohol.

There must be many questions as to why some children commit such horrifying crimes. Childrens heads are being messed with by the drug culture. The kids have access to too much information, via the internet school playground. The music industry is a major factor in their lives. They  have one thing in common and that is the influence of Gansta raps, showing violent music videos. Some children have to listen to their parents choice of music, wither they like it or not.So Many parents are still kids,so what chance do these kids have to gain some normality in their lives.Child crime has become common place lately.Really does needs to be addressed before the world is run by children who rule the streets with terror.

Excuse me but we are not. Drug culture as you call it has been in existence since the roaring twenties. There is no such thing as too much information. Just media draws more attention to these thing than before. "Gangsta Rap"-- drugs are glamourized in many types of music just as violence is glamourized in movies. Also, as population increases crime porportionately increases.

One point missed that no crime has been committed, it was thought that they were planning?

Knowing kids of that age and how they try to impress or scare a girlfriend and also how their girlfriends can lie. These boys are at that funny age and something tells me we should not judge them of a criminal offense other than drinking under age maybe vandalism and this case is to get them off the streets. I blame the parents for lack of control thankfully UK is a gun less society and kids that want to look big and impress others don't have access to guns as in USA.

Why are children becoming so abusive and arrogant? Because their parents are the same or do not talk to them and treat them as young adults and teach them responsibility, common decency and to respect others.

Looking back at my own childhood I remember some kids being just the same its not a new thing and goes back centuries. Bullies, gangs and vandals are nothing new kids like this were just the same when you were a teenager your self, perhaps you did not notice them.

I would ask that you refrain from generalizing a generation as the author did so negatively. As I am living it I can whole heartedly assure you this is not representative in any way of well beyond the majority of youth and young adults.

As babel states. It is thought they were planning to.Innocent til found guilty in a court of law. However Stories of young people drinking and taking drugs are in the media almost weekly now. There is a problem, with society and drugs, that seems to be getting out of control.

It has been like this since the begining of time. This "new" trend is not new. Less people probably publically trip on stuff than in the 60's and 70's.

thanks for comments Grace H. There were not so many reports of children being evil and violent,in the 60,s and 70,s  Just seems, Children were not so aware of drugs then.
