Two people were found dead and six injured in a bus at the Norway Rock Festival, following an apparent gas leak.

The victims were found in or near a bus at the Norway Rock Festival in Kvinesdal, 270 miles southwest of Oslo.

"We do not know exactly how they died, but we assume they suffocated on fumes while they were on the bus," said police spokesperson Asbjorn Enoksen.

Six more festival-goers were taken to hospital after being found outside the vehicle, he told the AFP news agency.

Preliminary hospital reports indicated carbon monoxide poisoning could have been a cause.

The three-day festival ending Saturday has drawn crowd of 5,000-6,000 people each day for music acts including Alice Cooper and Motorhead.

The two people who died, a man aged 32 and a woman aged 31, were an unmarried couple who had three children, Agder police spokesman Asbjoern Enoksen told AFP.

"We are not exactly sure how they died but we suspect they suffocated from fumes inside a bus," Enoksen added. A full autopsy would be performed Monday, he said.

"It seems they all inhaled what could have been exhaust fumes," he added.
