India's SM Krishna: 'WE will tell you, not YOU tell us!' to Australia re racist attacks on students

Indians are continuously being attacked in Australia and the bloody trail does not seem to end. A quick and stern action against the perpetrators is required from the Australian side but India is repeatedly diagnosed to be misinformed by the Australian authorities in this context.

Is the time has come for the public protest and revolt both at home and abroad?

Two Indians, including a cabbie, were attacked in separate incidents overnight in Brisbane, a day after Australian Prime

Kevin Rudd said that the assaults on Indians in the country were "regrettable".

A 25-year-old youth was assaulted and robbed while using a phone box near his home in Macgregor in Brisbane's south at about last night, police officials were quoted a saying by AAP.

The youth, whose identity was not disclosed, was punched in the head twice and his wallet stolen. Police were searching for the attacker, described as being tall, of Pacific Islander appearance, with black curly hair, the report said.

In a separate incident, a taxi driver was attacked at about early this morning after an argument broke out with two men in Carindale, in Brisbane's southeast.

The men punched the driver in the face several times and smashed the car's windscreen. The driver was taken to the Princess Alexandra hospital for cuts to his face and swelling to his right eye.

Two men, aged 28 and 25, are helping police with their enquiries.

Meanwhile, the government again stressed that there was no indication that the attacks were racially motivated. Acting Premier Andrew Fraser said he wants to assure Indian nationals that Australia is a safe place

I am a white Australian from Brisbane, I would not go near Macgregor or Carindale at night. If i spend enought tiem there I would probably be bashed and the cops would not give a shit, why would you expect it to be any different for international students from any nation?

Hey guys, I know its sad for those who got assaulted but one has to consider the following before making any comments about Aussies as rascists: 1) I am an Indian too on a student visa and i have noticed that majority of the Indian students who have come to OZ in the past few years are not here for education at all, getting a PR is the only motive they have got, and that particular lot doesn't have the sense to deal in an urban society, please do not get offended as i have enough reasons to say this, I have rented house and shared it with other students but eventually i had to move out as most of them dont want to clean up their mess, they are not house trained etc. I drove taxi too in Brisbane but i quit taxi driving coz our students have acquired taxi licences and started driving but many of them cant even read road signs and do even know how to feed the destination into a Sat Nav system and they hand over their sat navs to passengers so they could punch in their destination how does justfies an illeterate taxi driver to continue giving passenger service, why do you expect people to treat you nicely when some of our so student brothers keep working day and night and forget to take shower or maintain personal hygeine and cause discomfort for its passenger. I know dozens of drivers in Brisbane who are suspended from driving due to speeding and have hefty fines from speeding offences, parking in clear ways, etc. 2)Why would someone get robbed or assaulted in a phone box.......well from my personal experience i can only say that most of the students rely on phone boxes to call home and majority of them use the whole card which sometime can give you 2 hours or even more time to chat with friends and family back home, imagine 1 student taking that long in a public phone box and this the reason why local people sometime get offended by students for using it as a personal phone.Just drive around West End, South Brisbane, Hamilton, Ascot, Albion etc areas in the evening and try to find a vacant phone box.Even I do get homesick and call home too from a phone box as i still do not have a landline but i never used a public phone booth as my personal property and moreover the more time one would spend chatting on a phone booth the more vulnerable he/she is to attacks. 3) Thirdly, majority of our students love to live in a crowded house with very poor living standards i can say this coz i have seen it with my own eyes a 3 bdrm house with 27 people living together, do you think you would ever rent you property if you would ever have to people who would fill your house with that many people? all this is happening because its a lot cheaper to live like this then renting a single room in a shared house or rent on your own. But dont you think our students are going way over board on this? 4) Why shouldn't Australians feel insecured when our desperate students get ready to work for as low as $3 and our at many establishments including renowed Indian restaurants in Brisbane. I know they are thinking that this way they are making something which is better then nothing but dont you think people are encouraging employers to exploit the mass not only money wise but many girls have remained quite as their bosses have tried to take their advantages. I would as a worker love to work in a place where my employer would pay me wage that is set according to pay standards set by the department of labour. How would you feel if your job is given away to someone who offered his service for less wage just coz he's desperate. I know its difficult to find a decent job these days but lets just not deprive others by offering services at low wage. 5) Some of our students especially the ones who are into commercial cookery, patisserie, hair dressing, bakery and so on are fearing that they might not be eligible for permanent residencey in Australia once they complete their course so they are trying to engage in fake marriages with other students who are studying post graduation in serious streams like Accounting, research programs, Nursing students and so on just to enjoy the benefit of unlimited working rights while their fake spouse is pursuing studies. Is it right? Well I believe this post of mine has stretched way too long and i know i would attract lots and lots of criticism from fellow students but I said what i felt and what i have experience and i urge everyone to read my post with an open mind and and think if the details are correct of bogus. Cheers! SK.

Hi Karthik, How r u doing buddy? If you're coming over here for tourism purpose then there is no problem whatsoever regardless of what Indian media has been saying about Aussies. Yes, there are crack pots in every part of the world who are born to cause problems and even you would agree with me about that India has heaps of problems regarding Extortion, rape assaults, kiddnapping, child murders, early sex determination of the foetus and aborting the girl child, organ mafia, drug mafia, corrupt contractors, etc the list is endless, believe me Australia is still far better and safer then India by all means. I am not an Aussie but an Indian from Kolkata yet i'd like to speak honestly and its a fact. Let me know if you ever visit Brissy. Will show u around atleast for a day. I usually dont get time but still we'll manage atleast one for a fellow countrymen in Australia. See you! Rahul

Ranjodh Singh was murdered in Australia a few weeks ago and guess what?  Two of his INDIAN friends were arrested last week for the brutal murder - not racist Australians. Interesting that the Indian press have failed to report this.   And it has been reported that the two Indian students who were attacked recently were attacked, according to eye witnesses, by ASIANS - and not racist Australians.
