NP Rank:
Two People Fall One Mile and Survive
Jamie Robertson jumped out of a perfectly good plane, hit its tail, flew through the air the same way a brick doesn't for 4,500 feet and then floated the last 750 feet on a reserve chute. It was a lucky day for the 57-year old, as he survived with only a few bruises.
Fortunately, his three-minute descent took him into the landing zone where paramedics were waiting.
He was taken to Salisbury hospital in Wiltshire by helicopter where he was examined by doctors and released the following day.
He escaped with just bruising to his back, left arm and ribs.
Hans Lange, on the other hand, is a Norwegian BASE jumper who leaped off a mountain, got too close to it, and smashed into a tree. His specially fitted camera showed the entire ordeal as he struggled to regain control of his flight.
The accident happened Aug. 23, as the experienced BASE jumper leapt off the 1,600-meter- (5,250-foot-) high Bjoerketind peak.
And they want to do it again...

These are lucky men, and that is a really strange occurrence that both fell like that on the same day. If I was them, I wouldn't want to do that again.

Incredible . . . almost as incredible as sneaking Douglas Adams onto the unwary.

"but" nothing...Shackleton survived doesn't mean he'd do it on purpose.
Nope, you can do it. I stay inside the nice airplane.
