MANILA -- A baby drowned in a flooded home while two people went missing Friday as Typhoon “Isang” dumped heavy rains in northern and central Philippines, reports said.
More than 4,000 residents of flooded communities in Metro Manila and San Mateo town in Rizal province also fled their homes to emergency shelters as water rose waist-deep, the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) said.
Flash floods where rivers flood their banks can cause many deaths though it very sad the toll is very light after the heavy rains of Isang. My heart goes out to tha family that has lost a precious baby and I hope the reported two missing are found safe and sound.

Dear Lord! This was the greatest storm devastation ever in Metro Manila and suburbs. My family lives near one of the canals where the street was shoulder-high deep. My nephews and nieces in Laguna, near the Laguna Bay, are still stuck in their attic at this time of writing. My friends and I (ex-Asian Development Bank, Manila, Philippines) prayed in unison for the safety of our family members, friends and all our people in the affected areas. It used to be that in our area, water would rise knee deep and subside quickly. Not this time. My praise report: all my children and grandchildren were in the house and not loitering in the flooded streets and I was able to stay awake all night checking on them. My grandkids were transported to a nearby studio via clothes hamster and basin due to the shoulder-deep waters. Of course they enjoyed their bizarre rides, but what do babies toddlers know about such devastation. Our circle of friends exchanged notes and continued to pray for everyone's safety and for our government officials to act speedily to rescue those on their rooftops. Our prayers also go to the families who lost their loved ones (about 40 fatalities and some still missing) in Rizal.
