Typhoon Melor Japan

Typhoon Melor made a landfall in Japan today. It was weakened and downgraded to "tropical storm" as a result. Melor is now moving north-east of Japan and into the sea. According to the latest Joint Typhoon Warning Center warning on Melor, the typhoon is packing maximum sustained winds of 45 knots. It is reported two people have been killed as Melor made a landfall on Japan. Flights were canceled, property was damaged, and traffic was stalled. Power was out in some places while heavy rains and strong winds are pounding the landfall area. As of October 4, Typhoon Melor was categorized as a category-5 super typhoon moving in on the Philippines already drenched by a series of powerful typhoons in the last weeks.

The satellite imagery of Melor is available here.

it was one hell of a night, scary too! My wooden house rocked and rolled. Thought the windows would blow out, the pressure outside was so great I thought something was squeezing my head. Went out this morning but found no local damage except for twigs & leaves, and one fence blown day. Like after all typhoons today was a glorious day with rushing rivers, dancing waterfalls and singing clouds. Spent it in the mountains over looking the sea.Quite incredible that only two people were killed! In my prefecture more than 10,000 are without power.
