An interesting new survey has shown that perceptions about race relations still differ greatly between blacks and whites, with a majority of whites thinking race relations isn't a problem in US society and a majority of blacks thinking it is a problem.

The survey also showed a big difference in support for US presidential candidate Barack Obama.

In the survey, 83 percent of blacks had a favourable opinion of Obama, compared with 31 percent of white voters.

Obama will face John McCain, a white Republican senator from Arizona, in the November 4 presidential election.

On the status of race relations, 59 percent of black respondents they were generally bad, compared with 34 percent of whites who thought the same way.

The nationwide telephone poll of 1,796 adults showed that 39 percent of blacks said there had been no real progress in recent years in getting rid of racial discrimination. Only 17 percent of whites said the same thing.

As a life long Republican, I was ready to go with Obama until I heard Rev. Wright.  I had no idea that there was this much hate towards white people still in existence.  Sure there was the small percentage but then I continued to hear how this is common in "many" black churches.  Now as I've watched, I see and hear things like the Dallas City Counsel had a racial incident when a white counsel member commented that traffic tickets are not being accounted for as if they have fallen into a "Black Hole".  2 black counsel members called this a racist comment and even to this day demand an apology.  This country is doomed.

Thank you Barrack for brining all the hatred to the forefront via your life long friend and mentor, Pastor Rev. Wright.

I also, as a white American, had no idea of the hatred some black Americans have for their country until I not only witnessed Obama's minister, Reverend Wright, but also watched black talking head after black talking head appear on cable new shows damning their country and agreeing with Wright.  We need an urgent, massive program in this country that will bring good manufacturing jobs back into our inner cities.  A good job changes everything for people.
