UK: Declining Standards as to Public Welfare - "common sense”

For a number of years now a “virus” has been sweeping and eroding the very fabric of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 />Britain in the Nation becoming a land of blame and litigation destroying what Britishness was. One now must think twice before helping others since to recommend or give advice one is then open to litigation should such advice be acted upon. Thus we now live our lives more in isolation, more in fear and more in helplessness towards others in need as the legal Industry geared up awaiting new business on the local High Streets. For Ordinary Citizens trained as Psychological Counselors and certificated accordingly they could argue in cases of pending litigation that they acted as a “mirror” in making others aware of their needs!. Is it not correct that Gov Politicians are Psychological Counselors in that that they can invoke an electorate journey into a World of fantasy while in reality choose another brush, paint colour and content as to reality once elected!. Lets travel back in time before RISK, BLAME AND LITIGATION and to where Job Centres in my days were about accountability, responsibility and knowing clients whom needed employees and their business activities, about knowing and caring for prospective employees and where they may slot into such regimes. Of course today a job centre cannot recommend anyone since to do so apportions blame to “them” should that person fail to live up to the expectations of the employer and thus Job Centers are now merely shop windows and gone are the days of when likely candidates be escorted into Jobs!.

The problem with Gov Castles (Gov Departments) is protectionalism as to themselves since to loose face they must retaliate in restoring face at all costs, irrespective of the damage that that may cause towards a Nation. MP’s are Public Servants whereas the majority of the LORDS appointed are NOT publically paid and Not Public Servants YET “stamp” legislatative changes as to how the Nation is administered else return proposed policy back to the House of Commons. Lords or prospective Lords representative of Departments such as Commissioners don’t wish to be tarnished as to their incompetence however given inner battling as to Departments such events do occur and to which the General Public must suffer as a consequence!. Take the Health & Safety Executive (H&E) for example which must justify itself and litigate against other Gov Departments where it considers “common sense” and “risk assessment” has not been documented and applied. For example: By litigating against a Police Authority whom allowed its swimming pool at the force’s training college in Hendon, north London to be used for a children’s event in 2002 where two Children drowned the H&S executive publically “defaced” the then commissioner, John Stevens and in retaliation he ordered that the pool be FILLED-IN since which time officers have not been trained in swimming or lifesaving. Prior to that Stevens and Lord Condon were made to appear at the old Bailey facing prosecution in not instructed officers “not to risk their lives operating at height” after the death of Kulwant Sidhu, an officer who fell to his death while chasing a suspect across a roof. The case failed however the cost to the General Public was around £3,000,000 by the actions of the H&S Executive.

As to water rescue there are three gradings of competence where LEVEL ONE involves not entering the water at all but throwing a life-line to any victim YET without certification one is in breach of contract in doing anything to aid the general Public!. There are those of course within authority whom are afforded “common sense” as to the Publics Welfare but whom then face disciplinary action as to their actions!.

The executive council member for the Scottish Fire Brigades Union, said most firefighters had absolutely no training in rescuing drowning people. “We don’t think the responsibility lies with us, we aren’t trained and we aren’t funded. We think it lies with the police but we don’t know if they are funded for it,” he said.

Could it be that all taxpayers want is to see their children educated and employed by whatever means, that life be saved by responsible people given authority to do so in having the means/resourses in accomplishing it?. Where does “common sense” really lie in an ocean of Political correctness that means nothing as to their electorate and where DOING be everything as to others in serving their needs against a dictatorship which basically looks after its own interests above that of its paymasters!. Does Mr Brown need to now clear his desk at a moments notice like in the Public Sector OR will HE DECIDE when to exit like Mr Blair whom resigned and became a peace envoy AFTER initiating the War on Iraq?. STANDARDS are about leadership and tomorrowness, about motivation in reaching goals, about prosperity, about wealth, about innovation, about being in the forefront and setting standards to which others aspire in achieving YET what have you now?. A PM whom uses “Youtube” to address a Nation, a PM whom CANNOT speak in FEAR as to his OWN GOVERNMENT and the opposition whom offer challenges as to none apparent aspirations towards a Nations future!. Is this the same Mr Brown whom on visiting the US and upon returning “thought it a good idea” to offer medals to soldiers facing death in fighting wars on behalf of the Nation!. A PM whom announced the words “saving the World” in the House of Parliament while the former resigned PM Blair sought an attendance with the Pope on matters!.

As the UK & EU battles inwardly amongst itself for survival OUTWARDLY the rest of the World LAUGHS in being given a means by which it generates wealth from Industry operating on lower wages for profit YET knows that dependency be towards it eventually in providing a World that needs it in their survival!. While the UK are too busy watching Coronation Street and MP’s enjoying be enjoying a 3 month holiday each year, while observing litigation as to itself and their General Public, there are those whom prosper from such STUPIDITY!

News 23 09 2007 Police under orders not to save drowning victims. A 10-year-old boy drowned as two police officers stood by and Senior officers with the Greater Manchester force, which employed them, said they acted “correctly”. The emergency services are being told not to attempt to save drowning people because of health and safety restrictions, it has emerged. A fully qualified police officer did on arriving at the scene plunge into the water in an attempt to rescue him however his force made it clear this weekend that the officer was acting on his own volition and contrary to advice.
