News 16 10 2009: MP to repay £100,000 expenses.
The Daily Telegraph disclosed yesterday that an MP had channeled some £105,500 of his office and staffing allowances to a business to which he and his girlfriend were the only partners and which apparently was not publically registered in needing to file accounts. Added to that the MP claimed the maximum second home allowance for a flat in Central London even though his constituency was only some 20 miles from <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 />Westminster however, as a Borough councillor states "He's never lived in the Borough in 20 years,"!!.
Given that many MP’s be outraged by Sir Thomas's inquiry just how many UK taxpayers are now outraged by this latest disclosure and especially since the current inquiry does not seemingly encompass such behaviour. Does this not surely demonstrate a need for a broader inquiry and since the Government favours the adoption of Policies as to other Countries, in having no Standards of its own, perhaps Government Officials should be both “audited in” and “audited out” of their positions in-keeping with China whom are setting Standards.
