UK Muslims Ask For Calm From the Islamic Community

Muslim leaders in the United Kingdom have officially requested that their people cease holding British Jews responsible for the Gaza Crisis. So far at least 150 reports have been filed concerning attacks against Jewish people and businesses.

From Press TV:

British Muslim leaders have roundly condemned the attacks against the UK Jewish community sparked by Israeli onslaught on the Gaza Strip.

More than 20 Muslim leaders signed a letter to denounce the sharp rise in anti-Semitic attacks in London, saying "British Jews should not be held responsible for the actions of the Israeli government."

"The ongoing killing of Palestinian civilians in Gaza by Israeli forces has angered us all. However, this does not, and cannot, justify attacks on our fellow citizens of Jewish faith and background here in Britain," the letter reads.

This is a needed statement. Similar statements are needed from all sides and all communities including the Jewish community.

You can not write off a country because of this either, that would make you no better then all the other generalist that hold all Muslim responsible for Al-Quaida, or all Jews for the IDF, or even all Communist for the RAF terrorist, or all Christian for the Crusaders... It is ridiculous.

I am British. I object to that comment.

I don't know where you are from, but I wouldn't ever have the arrogance to "write off" any country because of 150 hotheads amongst a population of sixty million, and I doubt that you could claim such low figures for your country, whichever it may be. (Oh, and could we know just exactly WHICH country you are from, just for comparison purposes?)

I believe this is going on in New Zealand too. This is not right, you can't hold a whole religion responsible for the Israeli army.

I personally blame every single person that perpetuates the false belief in a higher being. Everyone of these people galvanizes each other into a horrendous paradigm where "others" are seen as evil. The Palestinians and the Jews are the same race. The differences between them are a social construction manufactured to further religious agendas. It is religion that has created this mess and it needs to be blamed for it.

God didnt creat this mess greed and stealing did. Israel stole land and dont want to give it back. Back to the anti semitism it is of course ridiculous. So many moron teenagers on the street a law unto themselves, any adults involved are probably from the hills

Hi everyone,

This isn't about religion in Israel. The people in these forums that say so have no clue about what goes on in daily life in Israel. It is in fact embarassing to read some of these outlandish ideas of who Israelis are. Religion is NOT the opiate that controls the peoples will. In fact, we have a wonderful rich tradition embedded in our religious library of writings. Including of course the Bible(Torah). We are a people that is motivated by the desire to live a full and rich life and generally accept the idea of "live and let live". That key element is what continues to drive Israelis to want peace. Governments have not always done what is in the interest of the people and for that we have failed. But on the other hand when you have a society that is embedded with teachings of hate and lies in their education system supported by Terror organizations that are not interested in peace and shared space then we have a no win situation. That my friends is Hamas-Iran-Hizbollah axis. Remember that Abbas our "moderate" Fatah leader wrote holocaust denial articles.

We are up against a very difficult situation where land is not the problem. It is a belief system that continues this sad situation. Land is only an excuse.
