The foiling of the gunpowder plot to blow up the House of Commons more than 400 years ago in 1605 deserves to be properly commemorated, a Labour MP has said.

Only a very small plaque exists next to a bike shed within Parliament, but it is hidden from public view..

John Robertson wants the public to be granted access to the plaque or for a new one to be installed along the route for parliamentary tours.

Guy Fawkes who was born in York in 1570 in this house, hid 36 barrels of gunpowder under parliament ready for the State Opening on the 5th  November 1605, when King James !, Lords and Commons would all be present in the Lords Chamber, however the plot was discovered the night before......www.bbc.co.uk

Why does he want to commemorate what was essentially a terrorist act? Let's just enjoy the fireworks!

Commemorating treasonous behavior. Failed treason at that. The 99% are really scrambling for heroes to worship. Labour Party to the rescue. LOL.
