Case History
The FBI is seeking the identity of the woman in the picture. The picture was found in the personal possessions of convicted killer, John Smith.
Smith was convicted of killing his ex-wife Janice Hartman, who disappeared in 1974 from Wayne County, Ohio. In April 1980, skeletal remains were found near Morocco, Indiana, which were not identified as Hartman's until 2000.
John Smith's second wife, Fran Gladden-Smith, also disappeared (from West Windsor Township, New Jersey Oct. 4, 1991) and has not been found.
When Smith was arrested in California on October 3, 2000, this picture along with several others were found in his possession. Also found in his possession were skull fragments and unidentified teeth.
