United Airlines Flight 741 that took off from Denver International Airport this morning was diverted and had to make an emergency landing at Salt Lake City International Airport after a bomb scare, when a note was discovered with a bomb threat.

The flight, with 193 passengers on board and six crew members, left Denver at 8:23 am local time and was going to San Francisco, when it had to make its diversion.

It landed in Salt Lake City at 10 am and the passengers and crew members were loaded on to buses and held for questioning while the plane was searched. Airport International Operations Superintendent Dave Korzep said:

"Following our standard security protocols, the aircraft will be sequestered ... and the passengers detained for questioning,"

It was a crew member that found the note while the plane was in the air, but it is not known what was written on the note specifically.

At this time it is not determined when the passengers will be cleared to continue their journey to San Francisco.

United Airlines spokeswoman Robin Urbanski said:

"They are being held in a secure place until the investigation is complete. When the FBI feels they can go free, then they can talk about rebooking their flights,"
