Working at home, doors closed, no sound except for the tappy tap tapping of my keyboard then suddenly car brakes lock down the tires and tire rubber screeches along a road surface followed promptly by a CRASH!!

I look outside and a taxi cab seems to have gone into the side of a minivan, people carrier. The lady driving the MPV was trying to change lanes quickly and the cab driver slammed into her.

My worst nightmare is being late and being in a cab and being in an accident. Of course in the back of the cab sits a passenger. I have no idea if he was late for anything but I know he was already previously injured. Whether or not he was hurt in the crash (or anyone for that matter) I am unsure.

Vancouver, BC, Canada - cars crash here too!

btard, nice work! Your instinct is correct: being in a car wreck as a cab passenger is indeed no fun. It happened to me in New York several years ago. I hung around, secretly happy to be late for work, until paramedics swung by to give everyone a once-over. Being without insurance at the time, I declined patient transport when the EMT told me that my head wasn't about to fall off. The cab drivers (it was a cab-vs-cab accident!) didn't stop screaming at each other the entire time.

Yup, this was pretty crazy stuff. Even from the 28th floor I could hear people shouting, it was guh-narly!

btard, where the heck were you when you took these photos?  Looks like you were hovering in a helicopter. Just think - NowPublic's eye-in-the-sky!

Hi, I was  on the 28th floor drinking coffee. I digi zoomed in for the close up. It was quite the sight!

I hear a lot of car wheel screeching and the occaisional crash. I also attribute it to people driving too fast and it is a common sight in Vancouver.

btard, thanks for posting this. You've done some awesome work here--great original photos. I've seen plenty more accidents here in the last few weeks than I'd ever seen before. I think people get cocky when the weather gets nicer; they drive faster and are more reckless. Thanks for capturing this moment!

Just goes to show you don't need to get out of your pajamas to witness and file a story

btard, you've convinced me you've done the work - it's authentic. I also think that you've been fair and thorough. I didn't get the sense that you were hiding your biases, or passing off other's work as your own. Or worse -- getting paid by those you cover -- so it's transparent and independent. I also think you deserve praise for being an eyewitness, and for your investigative efforts. Good stuff.

I'll make sure I carry my camera everywhere and be ready to snap and report :)
