Unsolved Murder Cold Cases in Virginia Beach,VA

When I started working on Shellie Carson's case researching the Virginia Beach Police Department web site I found that there was a Homicide Bar. Well I clicked on the bar and low and behold I couldn't believe what I was seeing. There were 68 unsolved homicides in the city that I lived in dated back to 1970.
Most of the cases were assigned a detective. Some so old and hardly any info on the cases so there was no need to assign anyone, I don't know. There are a couple of baby Jane Doe's, a couple of John Doe's as well. I'm going to list all 68 I've also made a video I've only used the ones with photo's in the video. I'm going to make another video with just names later. The list below is the ones without pictures. If anyone recognizes any of these cases or people if you know anything please contact the Va. Beach Police Department. 757-385-5000.

I hope this will breathe some life into these cold cases. Every little bit of added attention could open a new door.
Good job on the video as well. A few of these seem like possibly a couple of serial cases, such as the shootings in Lake Edwards area and the women who were strangeled and set afire.

Lake Edwards has a high crime area in Virginia Beach. It's on the Norfolk, Virginia Beach line and is now a lower income neighborhood and a lot of drugs and guns. Older Townhouses, Apartments and subsidized housing. It has become the outlet for gangs to hang out and drugs dealers to sell drugs. The elderly use to live there and some still do but most of them have been run off because they were scared to live where bullets were flying everyday and night.

I do too as well, it killed me the police showed the cases once a year. The month that the case happened it was on crime line for that month after that it was gone. The older cases however don't make it to the crime line page. I felt I needed to bring all of them to lite. Thank you for your comment.

My understanding is... those cases that are shown on the front page are in specific memory of the victims for that month... but ALL of the cases are shown on the Homicide page. They will not be forgotten.

Thank you for posting this. Jesse Terrell Brown aka JT was my best friend, I was not with him on the night that he was murdered, but I can still remember getting that horrible call the next day. It was two days before my birthday, and I was crushed. I pray everyday that whoever did this will be found, and justice will be served, in this life or the next.

I'm looking for information on the murder of Phyllis Minnick on virginia beach in the late 50's or 60's. We were friends in the Navy during the Korean war. Her murder was in the newspaper. the small one that is found in the grocery store. May have some important information even at this late date.
