Dr Manmohan Singh won the Confidence Vote in the Parliament today paving the way for India approaching the Nuclear Suppliers Group to obtain uranium of its civilian nuclear reactors. But the day marked a new low in the largest parliamentary democracy with the accusations of Cash for Vote. Some Opposition members brought into the well of the house 10 million rupees and claimed that it was paid by the supporters of the UPA government as advance for their abstaining from voting, to ensure the survival of the UPA Government. They also claimed that they were further promised with 90 million rupees after the voting.

This makes a mockery of democracy.

I always feel that a country as big as India needs PRESIDENTIAL FORM OF GOVERNMENT so that the caste, communal, regional divide takes back seat and good governance emerges.
