Eight personnel of paramilitary Frontier Constabulary have been confirmed dead and several others injured in a suicide attack on a checkpoint outside camp of the force near Jinnah Super Market, a busy shopping centre, in the heart of Pakistan's capital city of Islamabad on Saturday evening.
According to television reports, gunshots are also being heard in the area, creating panic among residents. Reports said that several persons including personnel of the paramilitary Frontier Constabulary were injured as the blast occurred outside the camp of the Frontier Constabulary, where 60-70 personnel of the force performing duties at various checkpoints in the capital city were stationed.
Reports said that an exchange of fire with short intervals followed the suicide bombing. Ambulances and other rescue services immediately rushed to the scene but difficulties were faced in the rescue efforts because of firing.
A UN office and some embassies are also located in the same area where the blast occurred. Residences of renowned nuclear scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan and head of a religio-political party, Jamaat-e-Islami, Qazi Hussain Ahmed are also located near the site of the attack. Legs and head of the bomber have reportedly been found from the scene of the attack. According to a SSP Tahir Alam, one of the attackers was arrested, while four others fled the scene in a vehicle firing shots in the air and their sixth accomplice committed suicide bombing.

I just called Islamabad and spoke to my family to find out.
this is what they have added
the incident happened on Margalla road near F7 where the check post was located along the green belt. the FC personnal were gathered arround for the lunch break when the terrorists struck. the blast was so powerful that it has made most of the bodies unrecognisable. the place is near a Madrassa Jamia Faridia as well.. which suggests that the terrorists might have used for a temporary base while on their Reconnaissance.
the local residents are saying that there was even a tent errected in the green belt near the check post which raised suspicions but despite repeated requests from residents it was not removed. due to its proximity with the Madrassa and the check post, people noticed suspicious activities by the tent occupants. instead of having it removed and people questioned it was supplied with gas and electricity by the local authorities.
the reisdents also say that the sences of firing were the same as lahore where the terrorists after the attack ran away with ease and melted away in the streets.
