Not long ago I wrote a story about "Pokey" Smith, a once wealthy Alabama farmer who lost everything in a freak hailstorm, and who has lived and slept in his car for TWENTY-SEVEN Years! And whose surprising only wish was to work in Obama's garden.  You can read that story at:

http://my.nowpublic.com/world/once-wealthy-man-has-lived-his-pick-truck-27-years

At the end of that story I said:

"President Obama... out of all the billions you will be bailing out the big and mighty with...

can't you please find a job working in your garden...

for "Pokey" Smith.

He knows tomatoes, and will help give you the best garden you have ever dreamed of.

And will probably work for only room and board.

A real bed.

He hasn't come to you asking for unwarrented bonuses or golden parachutes.

He hasn't asked anybody for anything in 27 years.

Instead... I am asking for him.

What do you say, Mr. President?"

I placed that story on several sites... and several wrote comments that Pokey should be given a chance to work in Obama's garden.  And in one poll, 85 percent of the respondents said he should be given that opportunity.

But what can you and I do to make what "should" and "could" happen, actually happen.

Is there one thing we each could do, right now, that would take less than a minute, and help give Pokey a chance to actually work in the President's garden?

Yes there is.  I have already done it, and you can do it, too.

Just click on the link which will take you to the President's email link, fill it in, and ask him to please give Pokey Smith the chance you believe he deserves.

They say that Obama's staff picks ten letters a day for him to read. Hopefully, some of yours will be some of them to get through.

Until seeing enough of them, some staffer actually asks himself/herself, "Who is this Pokey Smith? And what is this all about?

Can this story have a happy ending? Yes, with YOUR help. A year ago people were still thinking it was impossible for Obama to be President, that it would take a miracle.

And he is living proof that miracles do happen.

The power of the internet helped to make him President.

That same power can also get a homeless man - Pokey Smith -  a job... if we only try. And keep trying.

I have already sent emails to every Senator in the United States Senate, telling them about Pokey, and asking them to step out, and contact the President on his behalf.

Who knows if they will or not.

But I am a true believer that...

If we as a nation can afford to give billions to bankers and others who are already wealthy...

we can afford to give one minimum wage job - or even just room and board - to someone who is homeless.

If you agree, please take one minute right now and click on the following link and tell the President, that you believe Pokey Smith deserves a job working in his garden.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/

And cut and paste this link in the message so his staff will be able to find out Pokey's story.

And if it's not too much trouble, leave a comment below, even if it's just a simple "I vote to give Pokey Smith a chance,"

So that the President and his staff may see the list and that there are those of us who believe giving Pokey a bed and a job he can do well, is a very worthwhile thing.

Sincere thanks,
