Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Police have confirmed that alleged assault victim, Ashley Todd, has confessed the attack she reported was a hoax.

She originally identified her assailant as a 6 foot 4 inch Black man, weighing about 200 pounds.

From Msnbc.msn.com:

Todd, of College Station, Texas, earlier agreed to take a polygraph test due to inconsistencies.

Among other things, police said photos and bank card information from an automated teller machine where the college student claimed she was robbed do not show her using the machine at the time, police said.

Police said the Todd, who is white, told them she was attacked by a 6-foot-4 black man Wednesday night.

Other differences in her accounts are whether she lost consciousness, whether she remembers handing over money and how the man assaulted her, police said.

UPDATE:

According to this article, Ashley Todd did work for the Republican Party.

From the article:

Todd worked in New York for the College Republican National Committee before moving two weeks ago to Pennsylvania, where her duties included recruiting college students, the committee's executive director, Ethan Eilon, has said.

McCain volunteer admits hoax

I don't know what her motives were, but she is not a "typical" McCain or GOP supporter.  She does, however, owe a few folks big apologies.

I pity her more than anything else.

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Police sources tell KDKA that a campaign worker has now confessed to making up a story that a mugger attacked her and cut the letter "B" in her face after seeing her McCain bumper sticker.

Ashley Todd, 20, of Texas, initially told police that she was robbed at an ATM in Bloomfield and that the suspect became enraged and started beating her after seeing her GOP sticker on her car.

Police investigating the alleged attack, however, began to notice some inconsistencies in her story and administered a polygraph test.

Authorities, however, declined to release the results of that test.

Investigators did say that they received photos from the ATM machine and "the photographs were verified as not being the victim making the transaction."

This afternoon, a Pittsburgh police commander told KDKA Investigator Marty Griffin that Todd confessed to making up the story.

The commander added that Todd will face charges; but police have not commented on what those charges will be.

According to police, investigators working on the interview process detected several inconsistencies in Todd's story that differed from statements made in the original police report.

Pittsburgh Police Public Information Officer Diane Richard released a statement earlier today, saying: "Because of the inconsistencies in her statements, Ms. Todd was asked to submit to a polygraph examination which she agreed to do."

No photos of Todd are being released by Pittsburgh Police at this time.

The investigation is continuing as officials determine what charges will be filed.

Karen Hatter, I like this story. It's good stuff.  Its always a big black guy.  Now is she linked to McCain?  Very interesting that we are not saying McDonalds worker or Colorado University student here.  Of course she is the one who set this up as an Obama/McCain issue.  What gets me is that if you want to perpetuate a hoax, how about get the B pointed in the right direction!  What a loser.

Karen Hatter, I like this story. It's good stuff.

She needs to chill out in jail for a long rest period.  The girl is stressed out, obviously.

Thank you, Karen.  This is good news, although it shows a depravity that has been exposed in the hearts of many folks during this election.
