Condoleezza Rice, the US secretary of state, arrived in Brussels  for an emergency meeting of Nato foreign ministers at which the Americans are demanding that the alliance punishes Moscow for its operations in Georgia. Rice is also in Warsaw today for the formal signing ceremony between the US and Poland on missile defence, an act that will further inflame east-west hostility. source: yahoo

Putin to invest $22 mio in South-Ossetia 18:00 GMT
MOSCOW-Russia is ready to send specialists in the breakaway Georgian region of South Ossetia to contribute to form a government, said Prime minister Vladimir Putin according to Russian news agencies. German chancellor Angelika Merkel meets Saakashvilli at Tbilisi, NATO membership possible, more tuesday NATO conference. Russians "secure" Hydro power plant "Inguri" west georgia. OSCE: South-Ossetia has to say a word to it's territory. Meeting monday at Vienna/Austria? OSCE will send 100 peace monitors to Georgia.

The Russian commander of frontline forces in Georgia has told the BBC that a gradual withdrawal of Russian forces from Georgia is under way.

Maj Gen Vyacheslav Borisov said he had given the order for Russian soldiers to be replaced by peacekeepers.

A BBC correspondent said he saw Russian forces in position 35km (22 miles) from the Georgian capital, Tbilisi, on the road to Gori, close to South Ossetia.

Russia said it did not have a timetable for a full withdrawal from Gori.
