Riverstone Acquires Seattle Property Management Firm
April 18, 2008
By: Thomas Peretti, Contributing Correspondent
Third party property management firm Riverstone Residential Group has acquired Seattle based HSC Real Estate Inc. With this acquisition, Riverstone looks to increase its viability in the Northwest, as HSC is a property management firm currently operating approximately 34,000 units in the region.
HSC will now be known as HSC/Riverstone for the time being.
The current HSC Seattle office will serve as Riverstone’s Western Division headquarters. The majority of HSC’s staff and management will remain employed at HSC/Riverstone, with Walt Smith, HSC’s current president, filling the role of divisional president of the western division.
Smith indicated in a release today that the time was right to join with a larger firm such as Riverstone to meet the needs of its clientele.
Dallas-based Riverstone Residential Group is the third largest property services company in the United States, managing nearly 188,000 multi-family units at 890 properties in the country. The firm, a subsidiary of Consolidated American Services Inc., had the highest rate of growth among the National Multi Housing Council’s ranking of the 50 largest U.S. apartment managers.
Riverstone has recently purchased several firms to expand its geographical base and market share. In the past year, Riverstone acquired Realty Management Inc. and its 21,000 units in the Southwest and Denver-based Omni Apartment Communities Inc.

MyRights, I think your story has potential but needs some improvement. I've got a few suggestions, and if you give them a try, I'd be happy to remove this flag.
I wasn't sure what was newsworthy in this story. News should always be about posting current stuff - new things you've discovered.
Please review What Makes News News. It can really help if you follow the old "W5" news formula -- making sure you have answered the questions: Who? What? Where? When? And Why? (You might want to check out our J-Tips for more help.)

You do not think that trying to get out information on people living on a toxic environment is news worthy? You don't think that people living and working there should have the right to know this? Sometimes a corporation is so powerful that even the legal system is swayed. Unless of course it concerns a celebrity or maybe a politican. Maybe you are one of those who think toxic mold is not a real threat to health? Maybe you work for Riverstone? Maybe this is about a lot more than you know right now and you should not judge yet without the whole story which will come out. And I did discover this story because I am KATY.
