Police have a suspect in the case, though not under arrest the Surrey Man is in hospital suffering from burns to 40% of his body, based on his grave condition Police will wait till the man is stabilized to question him on the motive for his bombing of the multiple area businesses.  Apparently the man following hios bomb attack took a taxi to Surrey and then a taxi to a hospital where he was admitted. Police are studying the taxis video tapes for clues in what turned out to be a bombing gone wrong for the suspect.

What has been said so far is that it is being treated as an arson investigation of the Taco Del Mar restaurant. The Holiday Inn next door stated on CKNW radio that their security guard witnessed someone dressed in all black fleeing the scene, though it cannot be concretely confirmed through others.

Good thing I didn't take that route today...good stuff.

UPDATE:

It appears arson is to blame for a massive overnight explosion which
leveled several businesses in the 600-block of west Broadway in
Vancouver.

Vancouver police have confirmed this is now an arson investigation.

Constable Tim Fanning says the arson unit is on the case.

"The
fire actually started at the Taco Del Mar. I can't tell you at this
point whether it was inside or outside. But it was not the Starbucks,
it was the Taco Del Mar."

Witnesses say someone fled the scene heading eastbound on Broadway.
