The land of liberty and justice, ie. America, is passing through a strange phase of dilema. On one side it guarantees freedom from all the prejudices and on the other hand it treats the fellow human being from the other part of the world as threat and abuses them on the name of security..

The latest incident of refusal to provide service by the bank, to a muslim women wearing Burka, is just a menifestation of this fear syndrome. This is just one such reported case of mis treatment.Americans do business with whole world , and plunder the resources, according to there own need, but when it comes to allowing there territory to be used for the purpose of availing job opputunities, then the president himself suugests to fire the immigrants first, ireespective of better quality.

A Muslim woman has allegedly been denied service in a bank in California for wearing an Islamic headscarf, prompting a civil rights

group to take up the issue with the US department of justice.

The Council for American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) asked the department to determine whether a California bank violated a Muslim woman's civil rights when it denied her service because of wearing a religiously-mandated 'hijab'.

The council quoted the woman as saying that she was denied service at a Navy Federal Credit Union in San Diego, California, despite telling bank officials that she wears her head scarf for religious reasons.

Responding to the charge, the bank told CAIR that “in the interest of security and safety for our members and employees - hats, hoods and sunglasses must be removed when entering the branch office.”

"Special consideration for cultural and religious garments is under the discretion of the branch management," it said, adding that it is making inquiries into the recent incident."

Under this "bizarre and discriminatory" policy, "no Muslim woman wearing a head scarf, no Sikh man wearing a turban, no Jewish man wearing a yarmulke, no cancer survivor wearing a scarf, no Amish woman wearing a bonnet, and no blind person wearing sunglasses may enter a Navy Federal Credit Union branch nationwide," said CAIR-San Diego public relations director Edgar Hopida.

"We call on the US department of justice to investigate this disturbing case and Navy Federal's apparently unconstitutional policy and to ensure that the religious rights of all customers are maintained."

Believe it or not Amitjha, this is the society we made it to be with criminals having more rights than the law abiding citizens. Our courts revolving door justice freeing criminals, because they their excuse for committing these crimes range from have everything from Low Blood Sugar, Poor upbringing, Drug addicted etc.

Currently banks in Canada and the USA will not let anyone into their bank wearing a hat or sunglasses. They must remove them before entering, That my friend is the society we live in.

It certainly is unjust, but disguises are a Bank Robbers tool from the video camera, unfortunately all of us are painted as criminals, even law abiding people.

It is not discriminatory if all have to follow the same stupid rule.

I am sure you are also aware, covering of ones face is not in the Koran, only the hair that frames the face. Covering of ones face is a personal choice or mandated by Islamic Government Law.

Thats the tragedy of this divide world, we divide every thing in the name of simple operation and pay the cost in later stage. It is not fragmentation but harmony is the solution, atleast at the level of thinking process.

It's worthwhile remembering the US is at war with a number of Islamic terrorist organisations, and that those organisations started the war, attacked the US, and repeatedly try to attack the US and other countries over and over again. This measure has nothing to do with freedom, since your freedom ends when your freedom threatens the lives of others.

thats right, it is tough to define the limits of freedom.its variable is time and space defined. All we need to understand is how to respect the freedom of others.

Why are we so quick to paint an entire religion for a small cult's looney ways?  Do we consider all Christians to be terrorists and criminals just because of Branch Davidian's or Irish Republican Army's behaviour?

This is a clear issue of xenophobia.  It's time we exercised some self control over our panic buttons and learned to recognize that a criminal's choice of religion, affiliation, or other identity is not the fault of those he's latched onto.  Criminals come in all colors and cultures.  It's no more fair for North Americans to single out Moslems than for Middle Eastern folk to single out Americans.

the use of social divide whether by t he legitimate goverment or by the terrorist organisation is two sides of the same coin. All we need to understand is accusing other and not intrspecting is the root cause of todays world problem.
