In the wake of crisis in Georgia the United States has canceled its long proposed joint naval exercise with Russia. USA feels that situation is not conducive enough to hold an exercise. The naval exercise was to have started Friday off the Russian Pacific port of Vladivostok with Britain and France also taking part. There is no word whether they will still participate. In the meantime time there is talk of suspending Russia from G8. But there is no confirmation of this news.
The United States has cancelled a joint naval exercise with Russia in response to the conflict in Georgia, a senior US defense official said.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, on Tuesday said plans for the August 15-23 FRUKUS naval exercise in the Sea of Japan "have been scrapped."
"In the wake of this conflict, there is no way that we can proceed with this joint exercise at this time," the official said.
The exercise was to involve warships from Russia, France, Britain and the United States in the Sea of Japan as well as an onshore component in the Russian port of Vladivostok.
FRUKUS was the latest in a series of naval exercises that have been held with the Russians since 1988.

Sanjay Jha, The bear (Russia) and the eagle (United States) shall only continue to be separated and find less common ground in views of humanity and policies as these current events will be the snag that pulls any remaining thread that was or had been sewn in the past towards togetherness.

This could build into something big. Russia is ticked off about losing all its territory and now they have power with the oil.
