US naval flagship to arrive in Georgian port despite Russian opposition

And the Naval Race, Blockade and Chest Thumping begins as the US Navy arrives in the Port of Georgia.
Soon the Black Sea will resemble a flotilla of ships touring around playing chicken, looking at who will fire first. Certainly a bluster with nary a shot will be fired.

POTI, Georgia - The U.S. Embassy says the flagship of the U.S. Navy's Mediterranean fleet is to arrive in the Georgian port of Poti on Friday.
The Mount Whitney is the first US naval ship to travel to the port since Georgia fought a short war with Russia last month. Poti was bombed by Russian forces and several Georgian ships were sunk.
U.S. officials say the ship is bringing humanitarian aid for Georgians. Russia, however, is extremely wary about the presence of U.S. and NATO ships in the Black Sea region.
Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has vowed Russia will respond to the increased Western naval presence in the sea.

We are giving the Georgians $1 billion (not that the U.S. doesn't need it or that our debt is high enough).
Now, we're trying to start ANOTHER war?

I really, really hope it's just humanitarian aid...

Barry Artiste, I like this story. The good old cheney-oil BP Chevron army rolling in . Under the law of 1939 still valid for the area "civil products" can not be transported in warships. Amazingly the baby food on board the warrior ship is since a long time on board, too long as european newssources say. The operation Barbarossa, Ukraine - Georgia region obvisiously not the work of the US army, but the "CIA bridge club" needs new places to make money, America they gave it up. They don't worry where to live and what mess comes behind them. The reason Clinton with his team did not even receive the "CIA bridge club" for talks.

Thanks Paschen, Dunk, Moon, Rob and Solar, as you say Paschen, someone is looking for a fight, as Dunk Says, the US taxpayers can ill afford. Though one can assume it is humanitarian aid Rob, Moon may be right, surveillance on both sides. Though I doubt Russian warships will hit Cuba, I am sure the Ukraine and Poland will warrant a Russian visit. Whether it is a CIA or Bush/Cheney thing or both is anyones guess Solar. With technology today, rest assured Western and Russian Media and other countries will be watching and hitting blogs and internet with any and all comings and goings.

You have to tip your hat off to the Americans for arriving there and bringing in aid supplies. Just because another country isn't pleased with the idea, doesn't really matter. The U.S. to me is attempting to bolster the morale of a country that was just trampled by the Russians a short few weeks ago while the rest of the world stood by watching.
