US octuplets shown to the world
A video of the octuplets born recently in a US hospital has been shown to the world on television as well as an interview with the mother.
Single mother Nadya Suleman, 33, who already has six children has been criticised by the media, family groups and her own mother for having her new children through IVF.
Nadya's mother Angela Suleman said the family was already finding it difficult to cope with the initial six children.
She told RadarOnline.com: "She already has six beautiful children, why would she do this?"
"I'm struggling to look after her six. We had to put in bunk beds, feed them in shifts and there's children's clothing piled all over the house."
Ms Suleman fells she has been singled out and criticised because she is a single mother.
"A lot of couples, usually it's couples, do undergo this procedure and it's not as controversial because they are couples so it's more acceptable to society," she said.
"For me, I feel as though I've been under the microscope because I've chosen this unconventional kind of life. I didn't intend on it being unconventional, just it turned out to be.
"I just longed for certain connections and attachments with another person that... I really lacked, I believe, growing up."
The first pictures of Californian octuplets, whose single mother already has six children, have been released. The decision of Nadya Suleman, 33, to conceive her children through in vitro fertilisation (IVF) has been criticised by fertility experts.
They have raised concerns about the number of embryos transferred into Ms Suleman's uterus and questioned whether medical guidelines were met.
But Ms Suleman told NBC's Today Show having a "huge family" was her "dream".
In her interview with the programme, she said she had been singled out for criticism because she was a lone mother.
"I will feed them, I will do the best I possibly can," she added.
Ms Suleman, whose six older children are aged two to seven, said that all 14 of her children were conceived through IVF with sperm donated by a friend.

This story just continues to shock and disappoint me. Thanks for the update - I saw the grandmother's interview with Radar but didn't know that images of the octuplets had been released so soon!

This is turning out like the Dionne Quintuplets in Canada.
"The Dionne quintuplets (born May 28, 1934[1]) are the first quintuplets known to survive theirinfancy. They remain to this day the only female identical set ever recorded. The sisters were born just outside Callander, Ontario, Canada in the village of Corbeil. The surviving quintuplets prefer to be referred to as the Dionne sisters instead of quintuplets.
The Dionne girls were born two months premature with the assistance of Dr. Allan Roy Dafoe and two midwives, Madame Legros and Madame Lebel."
Now, those where natural conception though, but quiet the attraction in the 30s.

Regardless of whether it was right or wrong, this woman now has 8 little beings to keep alive. I think we should leave her alone. I am sure she has enough to deal with.
