USC Bomb Threat Said Nuclear Weapon on California Campus
The USC Bomb Threat April 28 Reportedly Came From Psychiatric Ward
The USC bomb threat that was called in on April 28 reportedly came from the psychiatric ward at County-USC hospital according to the LA Times, and the bomb threat was not the first time the caller had phoned in a threat.
This caller has made a few phone calls earlier in the day, but the one where he said there was a 'nuclear weapon' at the USC campus got the attention of the police.
As a precaution the Leavey Library on the Southern California campus was shut down, some streets were closed off and LA police officers arrived on the scene. The police now think that the call was just a hoax and the campus was deemed safe again at about 1:30pm.
Originally the LA Times reported that someone had called the police saying that they had planted a bomb inside a building, but the same sources then reported that they thought the caller was intoxicated and did not think he had actually planted a bomb.
USC senior Meshay Brown, 22, said her journalism professor had been instructed by campus security to keep students in the classroom while police investigated the threat.
"We're not sure if it's a prank or if it's for real, so we're kind of scared," she said. "We're using our phones and Twitter to find out information because we don't really have much."
