MUSSOORIE: Dec 12
Pyarelal a local resident had to face a nightmarish situation courtesy Uttarakhand police or as it is called Mitr(friendly) police at Kolhokhet Barrier near Mussoorie. He was served a ticket or ‘challan’ even after he had complete papers by SI Kabool Singh and few constables and was held up for hours.Pyarelal a daily commuter on the Mussoorie Dehradun Highway was stopped by Police and told to show the papers of His Motorcycle Bajaj Splendor No. UP 07 Q 4807 which he did, being an honest citizen but to his shock the SI challan’d him after showing all papers. When he questioned the decision his Motor cycle was seized along with the papers and he was told to collect them from CO office at Dehradun. The poor in quandary was speechless and said to the Garhwal post reporter explaining his views that this was merely an act of highhandedness. The bystanders also questioned the decision of the police but they remained adamant till the end. When Station In charge Mussoorie JP Kukreti was asked about the matter he said that he was in Dehradun and would conduct an enquiry as he reaches Kolukhet. There have been several complaints in the past about the police officials at the Kolhukhet barrier and the matter needs immediate attention otherwise the tourists will have to face similar consequences in near future.
