According to Yahoo! News, an affidavit filed along with a search warrant claims that police found Yeardley Love's body in a pool of her own blood; she had one eye swollen shut and a large bruise on her face.

George Huguely, who has been charged with first-degree murder, reportedly told police that he had an 'altercation' with Love and kicked in her door. He then admitted to shaking her and then repeatedly hitting her head in to a wall.

Huguely stated that he and Love had been in a relationship and that the relationship had ended," the document said.

George Huguely Appeared in Court May 4

George Huguely appeared in court on Tuesday morning via video, and his lawyer Francis Lawrence read a statement saying he and his client are confident the Huguely did not intend to kill Love, and that her death was an accident.

According to the same document released in court, Love's roommate called the police when she thought Love may have suffered an alcohol overdose.

Students and staff at the University of Virginia are still reeling from the news of one tragic death and another arrested for murder. George Huguely will remain in jail until his next court date on June 10.

How can you shake someone, repeatedly hit the person's head against a wall and say this was a tragic accident?  I believe people are innocent until proven guilty, but some cases are obvious, like this one.  But our legal system lets criminals make up ridiculous stories and excuses like this one and someone defends them.  Now the family of that poor girl not only has to deal with this horrible event, but listen to this guy babble about how he is innocent.  At times our legal system makes me sick.
