UVa Lacrosse Death: George Huguely, Yeardley Love Update May 4

George Huguely Appeared in Court on May 4 After Being Charged With First-Degree Murder in the Death of Fellow UVa Lacrosse Player Yeardley Love
George Huguely, charged in the death of fellow University of Virginia Lacrosse player Yeardley Love told the court through his lawyer on Tuesday May 4 that Love's death was an accident, and revealed that he has withdrawn from the University of Virginia where he was just one month shy of graduating.

The judge declared that George Huguely be held in the Albemarle-Charlottesville Jail until his bond hearing, which has been set for June 10. His hearing was supposed to be held Tuesday May 4 but was delayed.
Huguely's lawyer, Francis Lawrence, read a statement about the events surrounding the UVa Lacrosse player's death to the court:
Until more information becomes available, it is our hope that no conclusions will be drawn or judgments made about George or his case,” Lawrence said. “We are confident that Ms. Love’s death was not intended, but an accident with a tragic outcome.
How Was Yeardley Love Killed?
It is still unclear what happened in the events leading up to Yeardley Love's death in the early hours of Monday May 3. Her body was later discovered by one of her roommates. It is thought that Huguely and Love had a relationship but it is not known if that was a current one, or a past one.
The campus and residents of Charlottesville are in complete shock at what has occurred just a few weeks before graduation.
The police have released the information that Yeardley's body showed 'obvious physical trauma' but have not released how she died. According to the Washington Post, police have said that they do think a weapon was involved however.
George Huguely said little in court on Tuesday May 4, just thanked the judge as he was leaving. He appeared 'disheveled' and was wearing a gray and black prison uniform.

I hope before people make judgements or comments they will consider that the families of both George and Yeardley may have to read these comments. They are all grieving at this point regardless of what happened.

Spoiled rich kid gets dumped, can't handle the word "No", beats ex. to death. Sure, smashing someones' head into a wall is an "accident"...& I'm Jimmy Hoffa.The boy deserves the needle, but I doubt he'll get it, will all his families' connections.

Lineswine.....I absolutely agree with all u said, except for the jimmy hoffa part, of course. Yup. Got dumped, got insulted, got rejected and "accidentally" beat the poor girl's brains out against the wall after he'd punched her several times. This was not the first time. That's why she was dumping him....too angry, too violent, too jealous. Let's hope she wrote that all down somewhere or told people about his abusive brutality. I'm sure mom and pop huguely already knew. I wonder if they blamed themselves or all the girlfriends he beat up.

What is it with lacrosse players and violence, Hugely went to the same boarding school the Duke Lacrosse Players who manhandled and raped the afroAmerican girl a few years ago. Then Hugely who cannot control his anger "accidentally" kicks in Yeardley's door, and "accidentally" slams her head into the wall repeatedly and punches her out and she dies from it..accident, B.S. Just watch as the media and Cville police and UVA start choosing better words for Yeardley's "Murder" as it becomes just an accident or bad judgement. "White Male" upper-crust rich kid will get off with a few years....

Sherry 808- the Duke players were found innocent of the accused crime of raping the girl. They were wrongfully accused. It looks like this guy is not going to be so fortunate as he is clearly the one who is responsible. What a waste of two lives- one in prison and the other poor girl dead. It was probably alcohol related and he sobered up and realized what he did. No excuse though....it happened and he will have to serve the time.
