According to police reports, two men and a woman are in custody this morning facing a number of serious charges in connection with an overnight incident at the Shangri-La condominiums in the 1100 block of Alberni Street.

Vancouver Police are confirming that a 21 year old man was rescued after he managed to escape from his captors around 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening after allegedly being held against his will in one of the suites.

Acting on information received through 9-1-1, Vancouver Police patrol officers and Emergency Response Team members responded and searched the hotel, locating the victim inside a room he had taken refuge in. The man was found safe but suffering from facial injuries.

Two suspects who had fled in a vehicle from the hotel when police arrived were tracked down and captured near the Burrard Bridge a short time later. A third suspect was taken into custody after ERT members located him in another suite around 9:30 p.m.

The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries in the ordeal.

Three people are now facing a number of charges including forcible confinement and assault with a weapon in what VPD is calling a targeted incident. The motive behind the incident is still under investigation.
