Fast-food restaurant owner commits suicideChantal Eustace,
Vancouver SunPublished: Sunday, February 17, 2008METRO VANCOUVER - One of the owners of a fast-food restaurant targeted by a fire-bomber last week has committed suicide, according to media reports today.
Global News reported that Manjeet Kaur Nandha of Surrey, who co-owned the Taco Del Mar restaurant on West Broadway along with her husband, left a suicide note before committing suicide in Squamish on Friday.
Her husband Harjit Nandha could not be reached for comment today. Squamish RCMP would not confirm whether Manjeet Nandha was the 42-year-old Surrey woman they reported had been found dead in Howe Sound on Friday.
A Squamish RCMP media release Friday said a woman's body was located after a 1999 Nissan Pathfinder was found on Highway 99 between Furry Creek and Porteau Cove.
"A subsequent search utilizing Lower Mainland police dog service and the RCMP helicopter located the body of the missing female in the waters of Howe Sound close to shore," said the release, adding an autopsy has been scheduled. "The body was recovered with the assistance of Squamish search and rescue members."
Police have not yet identified the suspect they believe is responsible for the explosion that destroyed Nandha's restaurant early Wednesday, levelling a nearby Starbucks, damaging businesses and blowing off a steel parking-lot door.
In a press conference Thursday, Vancouver police Det. Rodger Shepard said police were alerted to the suspect just over 24 hours after the blast, but no arrests had been made.
The suspect was said to have burns to 40 per cent of his body. The suspect is said to have fled east down a lane and later got into a taxi, asking to be taken to Surrey. He was unable to get to his destination in that cab and used a second that took him to a Surrey address.
Shepard said the suspect was driven to an address where a second person then paid his fare: "That person who paid the fare is cooperating with us," he said.
Asked if the person who paid the cab fare was the owner of the Taco Del Mar, Shepard said: "No, it is not."

Sorry to be a pain, but if I place my photo in my story as the feature it is for good reason. Somehow I would like to know how my photo I place gets bumped to the background? And if this is common, I am not a big fan of it, I feel it is pretty much the same as pre empting someones entire news story with their own.

This is a very puzzling sequence of events, as many parts to the story just generate more questions and the plot only thickens. Manjeet's death is certainly tragic, but one can't help but feel as if it is suspicious - I don't want to speculate of course, but at the moment this reads like a CSI episode, and it's a confusing one.

You know Amy, I could not have said it better myself, it could anything from Insurance Fraud, Complicity between the Bomber and Victim, Crime and Debtload, Owing a loanshark, who knows, all we know is the Bomber is alive and not giving answers to Police, and a victim, who may well have had all the answers.
Like I said water cooler gossip a plenty and a mystery for CSI fans to boot. Thanks for the comments Amy
