Vancouver Gladstone High School Under Lockdown: Vancouver Police Search For Suspicious Male
Gladstone Lockdown Update: Lockdown At Gladstone Lifted
"About 4:30 this afternoon, the lockdown at Gladstone Secondary was lifted and relieved parents were reunited with their children outside the school.
No suspicious person was found and there was no indication of any weapons at any time.
The VPD wants to thank the parents of the students for their patience during what would be a very concerning time."
Police are searching for a suspicious male who has apparently entered the Gladstone high school, prompting a lockdown of the school.
A Vancouver Police Department media release says;
"Vancouver Police are presently conducting a detailed search of Gladstone Secondary School after a report that a male, who is not believed to be a student, entered the building. A lockdown has been initiated as a safety precaution until it can be determined if the person is actually in the building.
Additional resources have been brought in to expedite the search, including the Emergency Response Team, as it is a very large building."
A Twitter user Amanda Coolidge says some students who were in the cafeteria have been released. Coolidge appears to be Facebooking with her friend who is providing updates on the Gladstone High School Lockdown.
Vancouver Police also issued this statement on behalf of the Vancouver School Board
"The Vancouver School Board has asked us to advise the parents of Grade 7 students who were writing the mini school placement test that the students have been released from the school. Parents can meet their children at Gladstone and Vanness."
