In North America when a child goes missing or is abducted, the police is notified and everything is done to try and bring that child home to their family. In other parts of the world, in districts of northern Uganda, children are stolen in the night and turned into child soldiers by the Lord's Resistance Army led by Joseph Kony.

In our stable communities it may be difficult to understand the atrocities that are being committed on the other side of the world. This is why three film makers went to the area to bring our attention to the history and what we can do to help.

Please take some time from surfing and facebooking to check out the clip. Be warned, it will unsettle you. Here is our opportunity to take part in an international movement to make something happen.

Watch: The Rescue of Joseph Kony's Child Soldiers

On April 25th, Vancouver will participate in an international event held at the Vancouver Public Library. At the event, participants will write letters, create art/photo projects and seek out media attention in an effort to petition the US, European, Canadian, Mexican and Australian government to develop a strategy and support existing efforts to rescue Kony's child soldiers.

The tone of the event will be peaceful and no loud noisemakers or agressive signs with graphic images are permitted. The organizers

"want this to be an emphatic demonstration of where we stand in solidarity with the abducted kids in the LRA"
