Pierre Trudeau's tomb was vandalized overnight, Quebec police are reporting.
Pierre Trudeau was a former Canadian prime minister, who served from 1968-1979 and 1980-984, and who died on September 28, 2000, at age 80.

The words "traitor" and "FLQ" were painted in black on the Trudeau family mausoleum in Saint-Rémi, Que., south of Montreal.

A spokesperson for the Quebec provincial police said it appears the crypt was defaced sometime Friday night or early Saturday morning.

Police have opened an investigation, but they say they have no suspects.

Trudeau made enemies in Quebec in October 1970 by invoking the War Measures Act during the FLQ Crisis, when separatist militants from the Front de libération du Québec kidnapped British diplomat James Cross and Quebec cabinet minister Pierre Laporte. Laporte was killed.
