During the last few months, Pakistan - in particular its biggest and richest city, Karachi - is in the grip of rising food prices. There has been a wheat and flour crisis and commodities such as fruits and vegetables are increasingly becoming expensive by the day. Already meat prices are so high that it is beyond the reach of the poor, who were dependent mostly on bread, lentils and vegetables.
